How is the performance paste given to my horse?
Performance Paste is given orally to allow the hemp to be absorbed quickly into the bloodstream for faster results. The dosage is small, if your horse doesn't like you putting things in their mouth, you could just as easily apply it to your figure and rub it inside their mouth.
How much should I give my horse?
Our Performance Paste is given orally at 1-4 cc’s, as needed. For horses with more extreme stress you’ll want to be closer to 4 cc’s per dose and horses with less stress or who are currently using our Everyday Wellness Hemp Pellets you’ll want to start with 1 cc for added support during stressful events. Please adjust as needed. On occasion, there are horses that do better with 5 cc's but always work your way up vs. assuming more is better.
When should I give it to my horse?
30-40 minutes before your class (or other stressful event). Since the paste is given orally, it takes effect quickly. If you have another event spaced out later in the day, you may want to offer the same dose or a smaller maintenance dosage.
How long will it last?
As a general rule we would expect it to last 6-7 hours. Since every horse is different, this might take a little bit of trial and error. If you have 2-3 rides that day and they're spaced out later in the day, you may want to add 1-2 cc's (30-40 minutes prior) to a later ride, especially if you're taking it for calming.
Can performance paste cause a positive drug test in competition horses?
Our Performance Paste is crafted with a full spectrum hemp oil, which contains trace amounts of THC. While the levels are extremely low and comply with federal laws, there's a slight possibility it could affect sensitive drug tests. If your horse competes, check with your governing body's regulations and possibly seek a product certified as THC-free.
