There were situations like that (and like a previous poster said, Ray was in fact a very lazy guy) but there were also situations where Ray's mom sort of coddled Ray and his wife was seen as the bad guy... Like when he thought he was catching a cold and his mom rushed him up to bed and then made chicken soup, basically thought he should be waited on hand and foot. Ray's wife however saw through his act, and didn't want to coddle him the way his mom did.

I remember that show. However, didn't the doctor call and give him the news that in fact he had strep or mono or something?

The show is good, generally, but it really gets on my last nerve sometimes. The wife is a controlling witch. Even though Ray can be lazy, she is just out of control most of the time. I don't know how someone could be married to someone like that.

The mother Everyone Loves Raymond (2) . She is hysterical, but I thank God that I dont' have a MIL like that. I would have gone off on her along time ago. She is constantly putting down the DIL. About her cleaning and cooking and raising of the kids. Totally disrespectful. Then Raymond never once stands up for his wife in the face of his mother's attacks. That just really gets under my skin.

I understand it was only two clips of the show. But it was two clips that the creator chose to show; I can only assume that they were typical to the show. If that's his idea of comedy, I just don't get it. I'll take Seinfeld anyday.

I watch Seinfeld all the time-it comes on right before Everybody loves Raymond!!!!!!!!

I could never get into the show either. Patricia Heaton irritates me to no end, I have to mute the Albertson's commercials with her in them too.

I didn't like Seinfeld much either.

War at Home is the one that cracks me up now. Everyone Loves Raymond (6)

ETA: Anyone remember the episode when Marie & Frank tell the family they are moving out of town? The scene where Ray, Debra, Robert & Amy go into the kitchen and jump up and down with joy about the news... Ray was so excited he picked Debra up and threw her on top of the refrigerator. I'm LMAO just thinking about it! After typing all this I've made the decision to buy it on dvd.[/QUOTE]

IMO, this is one of the funniest episodes they had. When Ray "attempted" to throw Debra on the fridge and she didn't quite make it, I don't ever remember laughing so hard and loud. I loved all the episodes and we still watch the the repeats., (we even have the dvd's)

I have never watched Seinfeld either, the only clip I have seen was about a contest to see who can go longest without touching ones self.

You've got to love the look on Robert's face after his FBI interview! Or when he is emptying the Pepto-Bismol bottle during Frank and Marie's fight! He makes the show, in my opinion...

I think the show's funny but don't find Ray funny at all. It's the characters around him that are funny...especially the dad. I'd *love* him for a FIL! Everyone Loves Raymond (9)

I think Ray is such a good comedian because he can feed lines so someone else gets the big laugh but I agree that the Robert character made the show for me Everyone Loves Raymond (12)

DW and I love the show. Almost every episode, there was something that made us go "wow, this show is about us".
Read the "guy habits" and "girl habits" threads and you'll see what a lot of the show's humor was about.

I love the one where Ray tapes a football game over their wedding tape.

I love the one where Robert gets scammed by the modeling agency and Ray decides to help him out by taking his pictures in the basem*nt. OMG...those poses Robert was doing had me crying from laughing so hard.

It really is/was a great show!

[Robert is using a power-painter. Ray walks up behind him]
Ray Barone: [On the back of Robert's neck] Wasp.
Robert Barone: Agggggghhh!
[Robert reaches for his neck. Marie walks right out and gets a full blast of paint in the face. Frank walks by]
Frank Barone: [without stopping; at Marie's face] That's gonna need another coat.

We are big fans of Everybody Loves Raymond. I just loved that show and you knew deep down these people really loved each other. Patricia Heaton was really brilliant as Debra. She was annoyed 90% of the time and she did it beautifully.

One of my favorites was the first Thanksgiving after Debra's parents were divorced. Her father was bringing his "girlfriend" for dinner and everyone expected her to be young and beautiful. Turned out she was elderly and it was VERY funny (and sad at the same time).

I have so many favorites. Robert and Amy's wedding, where Raymond gives the toast about "editing". Robert and Amy's wedding dance. The episode where Debra drops the turkey on the kitchen floor before she throws it in the oven. It think that is the episode she submitted when she won her Emmy.

Everybody Loves Raymond is a comedy. It's an exaggeration. I understand Ray and the other creator/writer/producer (can't think of his name) took much of their material from their own lives. I know Ray's brother is a police officer (could be retired by now).

I also loved their trip to Italy. Ray in the bathtub - hilarious!

I miss ELR! Thank goodness for the reruns.

I love when they went to Italy.

I also like the one where Ray & Debra put on a skit for the friends making fun of Frank & Marie. And then Frank & Marie imitate them in return! Everyone Loves Raymond (24)

What about when Ray tore up the Super Bowl tickets and threw them out the window?! Everyone Loves Raymond (25)
