How to Defeat the Core Commander in Core Keeper | TechRaptor (2024)

Our Core Keeper Core Commander Boss Fight Guide will tell you how to find and defeat the final boss of the main story and beat the game!

Once you've collected all six boss souls inCore Keeper, return to the Core to experience the storyline's finale. Ambushed by the Core Commander, you may need help getting through this multi-stage battle. Here's how to prepare for and defeat the Core Commander inCore Keeper.

How to Unlock the Core Commander Boss inCore Keeper

Getting to the Core Commander takes quite a bit of work. Once you've defeated the first three bosses and brought the wall down, you need to vanquish another six creatures to collect their souls.

You can battle these three in any order, but you must vanquish Ra-Akar before you can face the three Hydra bosses.

  • Omoroth the Sea Titan
  • Morpha the Aquatic Mass
  • Ra-Akar the Sand Titan

The Hydra bosses, which are faced in this order:

  • Druidra the Wild Titan
  • Crydra the Ice Titan
  • Pyrdra the Fire Titan

When you have all six souls you need to speak with the Core. A brief cutscene will play and a marker will appear in the Desert of Beginnings. This is a set position, as the Core Commander hasn't actually spawned.

You don't want to head to the noted location without being prepared. Like me, you may assume a happy ending since you helped this creature be able to spawn. That is not the case. When you're ready, head to the Desert of Beginnings and interact with the large crystal shard you find at the marker. A cutscene will play before the fight begins.

Preparing Equipment and Supplies

The Core Commander has a variety of attacks, a shield bar, and multiple phases. You're going to want to have all your equipment upgraded as much as possible and reinforced.

Foods that increase damage, defense, and give a magic barrier are good to bring with you. Cave Coffee and Heart Berry Soda from a Vending Machine are solid options for increasing healing and decreasing boss damage.

You should also plan on having at least 20 Greater Healing Potions as attacks that land can quickly pile up damage. Other helpful potions includeGuardian's Potion, Stoneskin Potion, andPact of Power Potion for Warlocks.

Accessories that reduce boss damage, like theAncient Guardian Necklace, can be equipped. Depending on your build, increasing dodge chance, armor, and movement speed are all useful stats. Equip a shield if you can as some of the attacks are blockable.

Core Commander Attacks

In the first stage of the fight, the Core Commander has the following abilities:

  • Ranged electricity: There are four versions of this attack
    • Circle around a shield ball
    • Two lines that move towards each other
    • Single spark that shoots towards you
    • Two lines of three sparks that move toward you
  • Dark void whirlwinds: These stay in place and have an icon showing where they'll spawn.
  • Space projectiles: Triangular bullets that follow you but are blockable

He has a shield bar, but unlike the hydras, this one is controlled by the three balls that orbit the Core Commander. They have their own health bar that needs to be depleted to impact the boss's shield bar. When the shield balls are rendered defective they'll start to emit sparks that eventually shoot out.

After defeating the first version of the Core Commander he'll upgrade to the Unleashed Core Commander. His previous attacks become superpowered, hitting bigger areas with additional charges or whirlwinds. He also has the below abilities:

  • Blackout: Turns the battlefield black: Staying in the darkness inflicts damage, forcing you into the three normal areas.

The third phase of the fight is the same as the second, with Core Commander attacks upgraded, again. The areas of normal lighting when he uses Blackout are smaller and all projectiles move faster.

Strategy 1 — Your Go To

Since this is the final battle for the main storyline, you can stick to what your comfortable with. I used a combination of physical ranged and melee attacks to take out the shield balls. Like the hydras, the Core Commander will be stunned for a short time while its health bar is exposed, letting you hammer it with damage.

However, any effects on the field, like whirlwinds and the shooting sparks from the shield balls, can still damage you. Using range to hit the shield balls is helpful for those that have lower defense stats and need to focus on dodging attacks.

Getting close to the balls can mean taking additional damage as you follow them around the boss. However, this is your most familiar build and you should know your character's limits and weaknesses well by this point.

Strategy 2 — Summoning

Being able to split the attention of Core Commander is the biggest benefit of minions. Projectiles and electric sparks not heading your way means less attention you have to put towards dodging attacks. Minions can soak damage and still inflict it on the shield balls and Core Commander when it becomes vulnerable. This still leaves you able to dish out your own ranged attacks.

Buff your minions with potions, accessories that increase the time they're in combat, and add an additional minion to the max you can summon. Foods that buff your mana recharge are good to have in your inventory to ensure some minions are always on the battlefield.

While the conclusion of the story is reward enough, the Core Commander can drop some great items.
